The Gossip Mill

The biggest news about our competitors was that Jeremy Clarkson and his two Top Gear co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, were going to be jumping in our section of the competition, the Kingfisher Class. This has since changed as James and Jeremy can’t make the date. Luckily Richard (aka the short one) will be jumping which means we still might be able to get our mugs on Top Gear and he is really quite cute too. Not that I’m thinking about anything other than what will benefit Brainfog. Honest.

Internationally there are five competitors from the US and also men travelling from the Czech Republic and Japan. Nutters come from far and wide to throw themselves off a pier.

Other costumes include a baked chicken, flying nurses, mushroom pie, a rugby ball and a caveman being carried by a pterodactyl. (I think the caveman is our biggest competition)

The event isn’t being sponsored by a big name this year (the last two years Richard Branson funded the event). The Arun district counsel (a lot less glamorous) is sponsoring it but the Birdman was at risk of being cancelled if it didn’t find £30,000.

'Hoorah for the counsel'

There will be two large screens set up east and west of the pier so more people can see the action close up.

Other gossip includes the unfounded rumour that the money raised isn’t going towards Brainfog but to build a giant palace for the new queen of Bognor, Katie.

....Move over Liz....
